This post is long overdue, as its nearly a year ago since me and my partner made a trip to Barcelona. I found so many nice handmade items and met their makers that I still want to share at least those with you and some more. Better late than never, right ;)

Being such a sweet tooth myself I’ll start with NANA YOTI, a cake/cookie bakery, not far from Park Guell, in an area named Garcia. Only to have some of those I would happily return, especially for the chocolate and salt ones, divine!

We stayed in an apartment found on AirBnB near the Sagrada Familia. I spotted a nice little shop full of handmade clothes and accessories near by but it was closed, a few days later it was open :)

I went for a browse, unfortunately I learned, that it was closing down, even with so many tourists nearby, not enough to make the rent.

I tried a dress, but it was just too tight. So Lydia, the owner, suggested to make one for me. She could bring fabric for me to choose from. A day later I choose a fabric and Lydia, took my measurements. She made a paper version for me to try on.

If you’re interested you can contact her via her blog. She planned on continuing from her home. She considered opening an etsy shop. In the panaroma picture above you can see me fitting the final result, a lovely dress/tunic with an oriental print.

In one of the stalls near the harbour in the old town I found this lovely brooch. I bought 2, 1 to give to my niece, a mad pink rabbit for her, a red one for me. It was a joy browsing the colourful stall of LaBichaCreativa.

On one of our walks through Barcelona, we came across a pen and paper shop; I have always liked shops like that, but my hubby is even worse. This slight addiction has let to a new webshop which I’ll open soon (1st of April) with nice pens with porcelain and special notebooks, a small but special collection of quality brands.

In the area of Gracia, I also found Ven Y Cogelo, a shop full of handmade clothes by 2 friends; I bought a tunic dress and a t-shirt made to order, which they shipped to me afterwards. Great quality and will be glad when the warmer weather is here so I can wear these pieces again.

Of course we bought espadrilles while we were in Spain. lovely shop and loved the rows and rows on display.

Browsing the stalls of a handmade market near the harbour.

If you’re looking for a great hot chocolate go to La Nena, also in the Gracia district. It’s realy worth a visit, not too overrun by tourist yet and full of all sorts of handmade goodness, including great food.

And finally a peek inside the Sagrada Familia. It was my first time and found absolutely breath taking, the colours, the shapes, the ideas, the details, ……
