FAQ
What is porcelain and how do you work?
Porcelain is a type of clay that, when fired, has a relatively high strength. Think of the ceramics you see in a museum, the Chinese porcelain is often in much better shape than earthenware from a similar age. One of porcelain’s distinguishing features is its ability to be worked into extremely thin slabs, to the point where it becomes translucent after firing. To achieve this effect, I typically fire my pieces at least twice. The first firing is done at a low temperature, after which I apply clear or coloured glazes in certain areas. Then, the piece is fired again at a minimum temperature of 1234°C to achieve translucency. Depending on the design, I may fire the piece for a third time to apply gold luster or decals. While natural porcelain is white, pigments or stains can be added to the clay to create other colors that permeate throughout the entire piece. It’s worth noting that any glaze applied to the piece is only on the surface. All of my pieces are handcrafted using porcelain clay, with each figure being sculpted by hand. For basic forms like half balls, I utilize molds.
How can I keep porcelain clean?
Blow it kisses to keep the daily dust off, or dust with a soft brush. Non electrical item may be washed by hand or in the dishwasher. Jewelry can be cleaned with a brush and some toothpaste, followed by a good rinse and a thorough dry.
How do you pack your items for secure shipping?
Every item I sell is meticulously packaged to ensure its safe delivery. I take pride in the presentation of my products, and most of them come in a stylish gift box lined with soft felt or another form of gift wrapping. To provide an extra layer of protection, each gift box is placed inside a shipping box that’s generously filled with bubble wrap. As part of my commitment to environmental sustainability, I prioritize the use of recycled boxes and packaging materials whenever possible. I’m fortunate to have many kind neighbors who save boxes and bubble wrap for me, which not only helps reduce my environmental impact but also lowers my shipping costs.
What is the processing time?
Ready to ship items will be shipped within 1-2 working days. Custom orders take longer, their processing time is as per the description, unless I agree upon another time frame.
What about customs and import taxes?
Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply.
